In order to promote the continuous innovation of underwater intelligent vehicle technology, accelerate the cross-integration of underwater intelligent equipment technology and other disciplines, and enhance the cooperation and exchange of underwater intelligent vehicle technology among countries, the 2nd World University Underwater Robot Competition (WURRC 2023), hosted by the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and organized by Harbin Engineering University, will be held in Harbin in August, 2023 .
We sincerely invite our partners to join in the competition.
1. Date
August 12-13, 2023 (participating teams can arrive 1 or 2 days earlier for registration and on-site training)
2.Tracks and Participants
(1) Race tracks
The competition consists of three tracks: Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), Remotely Controlled Underwater Vehicle (ROV), and Innovative Concept Track. Each team selects the corresponding track to participate in according to the vehicle type, technical parameters, and competition conditions. The AUV and ROV tracks are for on-site competitions, and the Innovative Concept tracks are for design of innovative works. Please refer to Annex 1 for detailed competition rules.
(2) Participants
The competition is open to global students from universities and institutes at China and Abroad.
There is no upper limit on the total number of teams from each institution.
Normally, the number of participants in each team of AUV and ROV shall not exceed 8, and the number of its instructors shall not exceed 3; the number of participants in each team of Innovative Concept Track shall not exceed 5, and the number of its instructors shall not exceed 2.
3. Participation Methods
The venue of the competition is located on the campus of Harbin Engineering University in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China.
Teams participating in AUV or ROV track race will compete at Harbin Engineering University.
Teams participating in the Innovative Concept Track shall submit a underwater vehicle design instruction in accordance with the requirements of the Innovative Concept Track evaluation method in English/Chinese. The design instruction should be written in English or Chinese separately for review accordingly.
4. Awards
The competition offers the first prize, second prize and third prize to award according to the scores gained by teams.
The teams of AUV and ROV tracks will be scored according to the on-site operation.
The teams of Innovative Concept Track will be comprehensively scored by the referee panel based on the vehicle design instructions and oral defense
5. Competition Registration and Relevant Issues
All teams are requested to send the "Reply Form" (Annex 2) to the designated email address: w2urc@hrbeu.edu.cn before July 15, 2023.
No registration fee will be charged for this competition. Harbin Engineering University will assist to provide accommodations for all participating teams at their own expense (transportation, accommodation) for their travel to Harbin.
